Cadolto, together with the general contractor ICT Facilities, is implementing a modular data center for the Diocese of Eichstätt.
Handover to the partner ICT Facilities took place at the end of June 2021
The local data center in Eichstätt provides the capacities for the North Bavarian dioceses of Bamberg, Eichstätt, and Würzburg. To continue meeting the demand successfully, the Diocese of Eichstätt commissioned ICT Facilities GmbH as the general contractor to jointly plan and realize a new data center built in modular construction with their partner, Cadolto Modulbau GmbH.
The data center, consisting of three modules, covers an area of 185 m² and was planned and implemented in collaboration with the specialist for data centers, ICT Facilities GmbH. It was constructed in Wiesengäßchen in Eichstätt and equipped with a capacity for 28 racks. The new building was also clad with an attractive facade made of larch wood.
Based on the ICT MicroPrime standard for modular data centers, Cadolto took over the factory and execution planning for the modular construction as well as the erection of the refined shell including the facade. After production in the factory halls, the module was transported to the construction site at the end of April 2021 with three trucks. After completing the remaining work on-site, the project was handed over to ICT Facilities on June 24, 2021, which is responsible for the technical equipment of the data center and thus the completion of the building.
Holger Zultner, Managing Director of ICT Facilities GmbH: "Thanks to the modular construction method, we can offer our customers the optimal solutions with the highest standard data center systems, which can be ready for occupancy within a short period and handed over to our clients. With our partner Cadolto, we already have several successfully completed projects to our name. It has proven in the past that, due to the combined expertise of both sides, the synergy effects could be used to the advantage of our customers."
Karsten Küßmann, Managing Director of Cadolto Modulbau GmbH: "Our concepts for modular data centers enable needs-based and rapid deployment of new capacities. We offer our customers everything from a single source and are pleased to be able to successfully implement this project with our partner, ICT Facilities."
The new building serves as an extension of the existing data center, which ensures joint operation for church entities as well as church, diaconal, and charitable associations, organizations, and institutions. It also functions as a redundancy to another data center in Munich.
