Biocides for paper manufacturing
Vink Chemicals offers efficient solutions for production hygiene and sustainability
Bad odors, slimy deposits, or hygiene issues? In paper manufacturing, microbes can lead to quality losses and unplanned downtimes. Vink Chemicals offers customized solutions to protect the pulp and production equipment – with biocides, disinfectants, and hygiene audits.
In paper production, biocides are indispensable because they stabilize processes and ensure that hygiene standards can be maintained. Vink Chemicals' portfolio offers paper manufacturers a wide range of technical biocides as well as disinfectants for production hygiene and sustainability.
Biocides for smooth paper production
Slimicide of product type 12 (BPR), such as technical biocides based on Bronopol, CMIT/MIT (3:1), and DBNPA, enable paper manufacturers to combat or prevent slime formation. With the Vinkocide® DBNPA family, Vink Chemicals offers readily biodegradable and fast-acting bactericides. Vinkocide® products of the CMIB family also have a broad antimicrobial spectrum against bacteria – especially gram-negative bacteria, mold fungi, and yeasts. Vinkocide® from the CMIB-DBNPA family combines both: the rapid antimicrobial effect of DBNPA and the protection of the paper pulp with the long-lasting efficacy of CMIT/MIT (3:1). For plant hygiene, the company also offers the disinfectant grotanol® 3025 with EU-wide approval (PT 2, BPR).
Vink Chemicals – a strong partner for the paper industry
“Applications of technical preservation and their products are more regulated than ever,” reports David Zilm, CSO of Vink Chemicals. “Therefore, we have made it our mission to support the paper industry by enabling approvals, registering active substances, and submitting active substance combinations in so-called dossiers.” Vink Chemicals advises companies on questions regarding technical application, current regulations, and offers support through hygiene audits and BPR dossier onboarding.
Through private-label solutions, partners also have the opportunity to bring their own products to market.
Sustainability as part of the corporate philosophy
When using water, energy, and chemicals, Vink Chemicals ensures to act as resource-conserving as possible. An example from paper manufacturing is the targeted use of stabicor® RF 5: This additive is used in the so-called deinking process, a method in paper recycling. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) acts as a bleaching agent, but it is quickly broken down and "used up" by the enzyme catalase present in the paper pulp. stabicor® RF 5 acts as a stabilizer by reacting with the enzyme faster than hydrogen peroxide. As a result, less H2O2 is needed, and the entire process runs more stably and efficiently.
Sustainability also plays a major role at the new production site still under construction in Schwerin: there, a plant for producing biochar will generate process steam, heat, and electricity as by-products. It aims not only to cover part of its own energy needs in chemical production but also to supply local companies with district heat and electricity.
