With the TEXON work chair and the specially developed SKINTEC upholstery material, BIMOS presents
two innovations for demanding working environments. TEXON combines intelligent
ergonomics with the specific requirements of production, ESD areas, laboratories and cleanrooms. SKINTEC complements these features with an innovative material technology that combines comfort, durability and hygiene with a resource-saving manufacturing process.

High-tech industry, laboratories, production and cleanrooms impose special requirements on
workplaces: In addition to ergonomics and comfort, hygiene, safety, durability and
controlled environmental conditions play a crucial role. With the TEXON work chair and the
SKINTEC upholstery material developed by BIMOS, these requirements are brought together in a
holistic seating solution.

SKINTEC – Material innovation with a measurable resource-saving effect

The SKINTEC upholstery material was specially developed by BIMOS for the requirements of modern high-tech
workplaces and is manufactured entirely in-house at the company’s headquarters in Meßstetten-Tieringen in the Swabian Alb.
The manufacturing process uses a water-based foaming system that completely replaces conventional halogenated
blowing agents. This makes it possible to save around 20 to 25 percent in CO₂ equivalents during production. This
foaming technology was awarded the 2025 Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award. The
material’s lower density also enables material savings of around 35 percent, resulting in
reduced resource consumption and therefore less waste. The lower weight also reduces
transportation requirements. Modern manufacturing processes and robot-assisted
technologies ensure a high level of process reliability and consistent quality.

SKINTEC is robust, comfortable and easy to clean. The material is dimensionally stable, slip-resistant and
resistant to commercially available disinfectants. In its ESD version, SKINTEC ensures
reliable dissipation of electrostatic charges. A special feature: SKINTEC complies with ESD requirements
in all available colours – including light-coloured versions. At the same time, the material
is free from phthalates, PVC and plasticisers and has been fire-tested in accordance with DIN EN 1021-1 and -2. The
production of SKINTEC exemplifies BIMOS’s aim of combining technological innovation
and sustainable responsibility under one roof – a genuine “Made in Germany”
product.

TEXON - Ergonomics for demanding workplaces

The TEXON work chair is BIMOS’s top model for particularly demanding
working environments. Its Auto-Motion technology enables the seat and
backrest to move synchronously forwards and backwards. Both elements therefore remain dynamic with the body and
support changing sitting positions. The mechanism can be locked in three positions.
Flex-Back technology complements the movement concept: Even when locked, the
backrest remains flexible and allows slight movement of the back. If required, the
Flex-Back can also be locked. This allows TEXON to support dynamic sitting and an ergonomic way of working
even during longer periods of use.

TEXON was consistently designed to meet the requirements of a variety of demanding working environments.
For use in cleanrooms, TEXON is available in a special
cleanroom version that meets the relevant requirements and has been awarded the Fraunhofer-
IPA “Tested Device” qualification seal. Both the ESD version and the
CLEANROOM TEXON ensure reliable electrostatic dissipation in accordance with
DIN EN 61340-5-1.

The Hygienic Design also meets the special requirements of sensitive work areas: Smooth,
closed and easy-to-clean surfaces, as well as the Clean Cover over the mechanism,
reduce potential dust and dirt deposits. Another feature is the
replaceable upholstery: The seat and backrest cushions can be removed with just one click. This
facilitates cleaning, enables the quick replacement of individual components and contributes to
a long service life.

At the same time, the modern, futuristic design combines technical functionality with a
contemporary design language. For its design, TEXON was awarded, among other honours, the Red Dot
Design Award 2024 and the German Design Award Gold 2025 in the “Excellent Product
Design – Industry” category.
