Battery manufacturing in focus – from raw materials to recycling
Lödige Mechanical Engineering at Achema 2024
After processing raw materials for battery masses, Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH is now also presenting process engineering solutions for the other end of the lithium battery production chain at Achema 2024: As demonstrated at the trade fair stand (Hall 6.0/Stand C4), application-specific Pflugschar® mixers deliver equally convincing results in battery recycling.
Electromobility is on the rise: In Germany alone, more than 10 million electric vehicles are expected to be on the road by 2030. Accordingly, the demand for lithium batteries is increasing — as is the need for efficient production facilities to meet this demand. The processing of the materials, both at the beginning and during their reuse at the end of the product lifecycle, imposes the highest quality requirements on the machines used. These often push the limits of what is technically feasible.
Application-specific Pflugschar® Mixers
Lödige Maschinenbau addresses this demanding process engineering challenge with specialized versions of the proven Pflugschar® mixers. For example, contamination of cathode masses by foreign ions, especially iron, must be strictly avoided. Therefore, the mixing drum and the mixing elements are ceramic-coated. Since battery masses also contain toxic and carcinogenic components such as cobalt, uncontrolled release of fine powders must be prevented at all costs. Modern, application-specific sealing systems ensure a tight seal that surpasses traditional stuffing box packing.
However, Lödige Maschinenbau does not only supply the mixer(s). As a solution provider, the company supports its customers throughout the entire plant implementation process, from planning to commissioning.
