From the transformation that is underway in many industrial sectors, new and altered tasks are emerging for parts manufacturers in component cleaning. The 30th Industrial Component Cleaning Conference of the Professional Association for Industrial Part Cleaning (FiT) e.V. presents fundamental principles, systematic approaches, and best practice solutions. The anniversary event with accompanying exhibition will be held for the first time on September 20, 2022, at the Motorworld Manufaktur in Metzingen.

The automotive and supplier industry, medical technology, mechanical engineering, aerospace, electronics, and energy technology are just a few sectors experiencing profound changes. Additionally, areas such as remanufacturing and raw material recycling are gaining importance. These developments also impact industrial component cleaning. For example, higher particulate cleanliness requirements must sometimes be met. At the same time, film-chemical contamination of increasingly many components is coming into focus. Furthermore, cleaning tasks are changing due to new or modified products, innovative materials and material combinations, as well as the demand to integrate cleaning into a digitized manufacturing environment. To remain competitive, the manufacturing step of component cleaning must be carried out simultaneously in a sustainable, resource-efficient, fast, cost-effective manner, and with consistent results. These numerous requirements necessitate a systematic and quality-oriented design of cleaning processes.

Know-how for process design, optimization, and control

The program of this one-day anniversary event begins with an introductory lecture on the topic “Film Contaminations in Fine Cleaning – a Challenge for Cleaning Technology.” The following presentations are structured according to the guidelines developed by FiT for quality-assuring component cleaning into the areas of “Chemistry, Process, and System Technology” and “Measuring, Testing, and Controlling.” In the first session, experienced practitioners will discuss effective corrosion protection concepts for corrosion-sensitive components, aspects to consider when selecting the right cleaner, and how to utilize synergy effects in deburring and cleaning complex component structures. Other contributions in this session address challenges and solutions for cleaning in remanufacturing, a technology for deep cleaning geometrically critical components, and the possibilities for funding investments in climate-friendly drying solutions. The second session will demonstrate how processes can be designed and optimized through direct measurement of cleaning results, the impact of technical cleanliness on product lifespan, and high purity.

The accompanying exhibition offers participants the opportunity to learn about new products and developments in industrial cleaning technology and to exchange experiences. The conference is aimed at specialists and managers, engineers, and technicians from development and design, technology, process engineering, work preparation, manufacturing, production planning, and quality assurance across various industries.
