B+K sets new standards
The demand for high-purity packaging for the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries has been increasing for years. Bischof + Klein responds to this trend with an investment in a completely new coextrusion line, thereby doubling its extrusion capacities for CleanFlex® cleanroom films.
For this new system, the existing cleanroom of ISO Class 5 according to DIN EN ISO 14644 will be expanded, and a new extruder tower with a total height of 18 meters will be built. The new machine will produce existing product solutions as well as new developments that have not yet been manufactured under cleanroom conditions. The expansion is carried out independently of the current cleanroom extrusion, creating two separate extrusion areas. This is also important for risk management, as production can switch to another extrusion area in case of disruptions, ensuring supply security.
In planning and construction, the latest standards such as DIN EN ISO 14644 were adhered to, utilizing the most modern cleanroom construction techniques and online monitoring technology. The production start is scheduled for spring 2017 after successful initial qualification of the new cleanroom, as well as qualification and validation of the new production facility and products.
With this groundbreaking investment in state-of-the-art cleanroom and film technology, B+K is laying the foundation for a new level of quality in its B+K CleanFlex® product range. Sales Manager B+K CleanFlex® Benjamin Kepp is confident that this investment hits the nerve of the times and once again sets new standards for the future of cleanroom packaging.
