B+K sets new standards
The demand for high-purity packaging for the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries has been increasing for years. Bischof + Klein responds to this trend with an investment in a completely new coextrusion line, thereby doubling its extrusion capacities for CleanFlex® cleanroom films.
For this new facility, the existing cleanroom of ISO Class 5 according to DIN EN ISO 14644 was expanded, and a new extruder tower with a total height of 18 meters was built. The new machine will produce both existing product solutions and new developments that have not yet been manufactured under cleanroom conditions. The expansion was carried out independently of the existing cleanroom extrusion, resulting in two separate extrusion areas. This is also important for risk management, as production can switch to another extrusion area in case of disruptions, ensuring supply security.
Planning and construction were based on current standards, such as DIN EN ISO 14644, utilizing the latest cleanroom construction techniques and state-of-the-art online monitoring technology. After successful initial qualification of the new cleanroom, as well as qualification and validation of the new production facility and products, production on the new extrusion line commenced in summer 2017.
With this groundbreaking investment in state-of-the-art cleanroom and film technology, B+K is laying the foundation for a new level of quality in its B+K CleanFlex® product range. Sales Manager B+K CleanFlex® Benjamin Kepp is confident that this investment hits the nerve of the times and once again sets new standards for the future of cleanroom packaging.
