Automation system PSS 4000 monitors fire protection system in Hackescher Quartier

The industry-proven automation system PSS 4000 from Pilz for safety and standard monitors all processes of the fire protection system used there in the Hackescher Quartier Berlin.

In the Hackescher Quartier Berlin, the industry-proven automation system PSS 4000 was chosen for safety and standardization by the automation expert Pilz. PSS 4000 monitors the fire protection system within the 44,000 m² building complex and ensures a reliable process for activated smoke extraction concepts, such as local limitation of fire and smoke development, direct smoke extraction to the outside, or the isolation of unaffected areas.

The automation solution with PSS 4000 primarily consists of 20 PSSuniversal PLC controllers connected via PSSnet switches for the monitoring and control of the fire alarm system. The system monitors manually operated buttons and switches on the fire alarm panels, signals from CO2 sensors, control of smoke extraction flaps, smoke and smoke protection pressure systems, as well as the end position of approximately 2000 fire protection and smoke extraction flaps. All system components are interconnected via a fiber optic ring network and secure network switches from Pilz, ensuring fail-safe operation.

The PSS 4000 automation system meets all requirements specified by the VDMA standard sheet 24200-1 for building automation related to fire protection.
