Automatic Lock: Tamper-evident sealing system with authenticity seal

Automatic Lock is the only locking system so far with a plastic seal cap that is suitable for automatic installation in barrel filling systems.

The sealing cap of the bung closure system for PE drums is available in two different diameters.

Seals have a long-standing tradition in history. Thousands of years ago, they were used to ensure the integrity of containers and their contents. The seal of the new automatic locking system Automatic Lock for plastic drums from Schütz looks different from a medieval wax seal, but serves the same purpose: it signifies authenticity and preserves quality.

The bung closure system for PE drums consists of a stopper and a seal cap with authenticity protection, optionally in red or white. The special feature: opening the stopper is not possible without destroying the seal cap, as the inner sealing ring is firmly connected to the cap. This keeps the contents protected from unnoticed removal or contamination at all times. The seal cap is available for various bung designs.

The seal cap can be easily installed manually or fully automatically. First, the seal cap is placed on the stopper. It self-centers due to the recessed position of the locking hooks. With gentle pressure on the cap, the inner sealing ring slides behind the locking lugs in the stopper. The rigid design provides the best hold for the closure: the drum is securely sealed. When opening, the tab at the predetermined breaking points tears the cap and the inner sealing ring. Thanks to the perforation of the ring, the seal cap can now be easily removed. Breaking and removing the cap is simple and quick with a pull ring using just one hand movement. The stopper can be unscrewed, and the contents removed intact.

One seal cap – many advantages

Automatic Lock is the only closure system with a plastic seal cap that is suitable for automatic installation in drum filling lines. It offers numerous additional benefits compared to conventional solutions. Standard plastic caps only seal the bung opening without the additional function of an authenticity seal. Manipulation can go unnoticed. In contrast, with Automatic Lock, the seal cap is held by the stopper and not by the bung. The seal break is irreversible and immediately indicates that a drum has been opened.

Compared to steel caps, which also have a sealing function because they cannot be removed unnoticed, the new plastic system convinces with its hygienic and non-corrosive material. Accordingly certified, Automatic Lock is also suitable for use with Schütz's Foodcert line of drums in the food industry. Additionally, the new closure system impresses with high user-friendliness: an extra tool, like when opening steel seal caps, is not necessary thanks to the integrated pull ring.
