Automated packaging and labeling of small and medium batches
With the deep-drawing packaging machine R 081, MULTIVAC offers an entry-level model for automated packaging of small and medium batches in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. For compliant product labeling, the film direct printing system MR 296 TI is available as an optional feature.
Process reliability, cleanroom suitability, safe operation, and high flexibility distinguish the R 081. It is compact with a length of approximately 3 meters, making it ideal for use in confined spaces. Its main application area is packaging of medical sterilization products in smaller batch sizes or for test markets.
The R 081 can process both hard and soft films, as well as Tyvek® and paper-based packaging materials with a total film thickness of up to 400 µm, at a maximum rate of 15 cycles per minute. It can be equipped with evacuation and gassing facilities, making it suitable for producing vacuum packs as well as packs with modified atmosphere and reduced oxygen content.
Servo-driven lifting mechanisms ensure high sealing force and uniform distribution of sealing pressure. This guarantees consistently high sealing quality and increases packaging security. Thanks to MULTIVAC's proven insertion technology, changing the form and seal tools is simple, quick, and reproducible.
The R 081 is available in different machine widths, allowing for flexible format design. For pull lengths of 100 to 200 mm, a draw depth of up to 60 mm is possible; for pull lengths of 210 to 300 mm, a draw depth of up to 80 mm.
Options
For compliant product labeling, MULTIVAC offers, among other things, the film direct printing system MR 296 TI as an optional feature, suitable for multi-track packaging solutions. It consists of a transport device and a thermal inkjet printer. The proven HP thermal inkjet technology enables perfect labeling of paper and Tyvek® with a print resolution of 600 dpi. This allows variable production data such as lot, batch, expiration date, as well as codes, to be printed directly onto the top film of the product in excellent quality. With this option, the packaging system from MULTIVAC helps ensure compliance with the applicable UDI (Unique Device Identification) requirements, which aim for clear identification and traceability of products via machine-readable codes and product information in plain text throughout the entire process chain.
The thermal inkjet printer impresses with minimal setup times, low maintenance requirements, and long service intervals. The cartridges are very easy and quick to change. The maximum print height per print head is 12.7 mm, but the modular design also allows expansion to up to four print heads within a production line.
Furthermore, various control systems and solutions for guiding finished packs to the R 081 can be connected. Of course, this compact machine can also be equipped with packages for validation and calibration.
