ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology implements two cleanroom classes in a laminar flow system

For a renowned customer in the automation sector, the specialist for cleanrooms and dry storage cabinets, ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology, developed a custom laminar flow system. The special feature here is the maintenance of cleanliness classes ISO 8 and ISO 6 within a single system.

The customer has developed a new automation solution. It is produced in a two-stage manufacturing process, with each stage requiring a different cleanliness class. Since the new development is not yet established on the market, expandability and flexibility of the laminar flow unit are the main focus. Additionally, low noise during operation and minimal vibrations are crucial for the customer.

The separation of the cleanliness classes ISO 8 and ISO 6 within the system was implemented by the experts from ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology using a lamella curtain. This has the advantage that individual production steps can be flexibly connected. The ISO 8 area was covered with a Filter Fan Unit, and the ISO 6 area with two Filter Fan Units. "The particular challenge was to ensure the required classes while avoiding cross-contamination," reports Fabian Autenrieth, Product Manager at ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology GmbH. "Ultimately, we prevented mutual influence of the rooms through precise regulation of the airflow. Additionally, a sensor-controlled airspeed regulation was installed. Thanks to this, the airflow is automatically adjusted when entering or leaving the clean room."

A major advantage of this design, compared to two separate LAMINO cabins, is the reduced control effort. In this special system, two separate cleanroom areas can be regulated via a central control. Furthermore, the LAMINO Cabin impresses with a smooth operation of < 50 dB(A), ensuring a quiet working environment.

Maximum flexibility and expandability were achieved through modular construction. If production is to be expanded in the future, additional laminar flow units can be added with minimal effort. "Thanks to our many years of experience in planning and implementing cleanrooms, we were able to respond very quickly to all new requirements," says Fabian Autenrieth.

The system is already successfully in use at the customer site. Further laminar flow units are in planning.
