Andrea Alboni, General Manager Western Europe at Universal Robots (UR), will serve on the board of the VDMA Robotics Division for the next three years. The Cobot expert aims to promote the topic of human-robot collaboration further during the upcoming term until 2024. "I am very pleased to continue having the opportunity to draw attention to the highly dynamic developments in the automation industry through my activities in the VDMA," says Alboni.

Creating robot-enabled capacities with skilled workers

The board member emphasizes particularly the relief of qualified employees and the associated opportunities for companies. "Robots take over monotonous and strenuous tasks in manufacturing – often hand in hand with humans – thereby creating space for entrepreneurial development," explains Alboni. "Because capacities are freed up among skilled workers, they can focus on more responsible tasks. This helps to secure the long-term innovative strength and thus the future viability of our society. Together with the Robotics Division, I want to raise awareness about the potentials of automation in companies of all sizes and support them in benefiting from the advantages."

During the VDMA Robotics Division meeting, which took place online during the general assembly of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, a new board was elected as usual. A total of eight board members, including Chairman Volker Spanier (Epson Germany GmbH), are involved in the term from 2021 to 2024, working in areas such as trade fair policy, standardization, and industry networking. The Robotics Division is part of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association. More than 350 member companies from the fields of Integrated Assembly Solutions, industrial image processing (Machine Vision), and robotics belong to it. With an annual turnover of 12 billion euros, the industry is considered a pioneer of manufacturing digitalization.
