Air filter manufacturer Camfil supports children with lung diseases
For the eighth consecutive time: Donation for the Children's Hospital of UKSH, Lübeck Campus
With a donation of 3,000 euros, Camfil, a global leader in air filters and air purification systems, supports the Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergology section of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), Lübeck Campus. The company based in Reinfeld, Schleswig-Holstein, has once again refrained from giving Christmas gifts to its customers and instead, for the eighth consecutive year, has supported children with lung diseases at the children's hospital. Christine Wall-Pilgeröder, Managing Director of Camfil, and Jan Beth, Camfil Sales Outside Region North, now handed over the donation check to Prof. Dr. Matthias Kopp, Head of the Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergology section.
Renovation of the Large Pulmonary Function Room
"We are very pleased that Camfil has been supporting us generously for a long time," says Prof. Kopp. As in previous years, the money will be used to renovate the large pulmonary function room in pediatric pulmonology. "Previously, this windowless room, characterized by large technical equipment, was very intimidating for children. That’s why we wanted to create the exciting backdrop of an underwater world and incorporate the devices into this setting," says Prof. Kopp. The renovation will be completed early next year. Pulmonary function tests and other examinations needed by children with lung diseases can then take place against the background of a South Sea underwater world with a reef, in an environment that particularly alleviates discomfort for the youngest patients.
Clean Air – a Human Right
"Camfil advocates for clean air as a human right because today over 90 percent of all Europeans suffer, often unknowingly, from air pollution that usually exceeds WHO guidelines. These poor outdoor air quality levels lead to indoor air situations that are even more burdensome. Because here, pollution can be increased up to fifty times compared to outdoor air. And since every German citizen spends an average of 90 percent of their life indoors, this poses a frequently underestimated threat to health and well-being. Therefore, it is crucial to take measures to ensure good indoor air quality. For children with lung diseases, clean air is vital for survival. That’s why we are happy to support the excellent work being done in the pediatric pulmonology department at UKSH, Lübeck Campus," says Christine Wall-Pilgeröder, Managing Director of Camfil, Reinfeld.
