With the new ADV200 WH frequency inverter for a wide performance spectrum from 30 kW to 1.2 MW, GEFRAN completes its ADV series. The new model is lightweight, extremely robust, and significantly more compact than air-cooled inverters with the same power. The ADV200 WH combines an inverter for asynchronous/synchronous motors with or without encoder with liquid cooling. It is ideally suited for use in plastic extrusion and plastic injection molding and can be easily integrated into existing systems.

"With the ADV200 WH, we leverage the fact that processing plants for plastics are often already equipped with water cooling," explains the responsible Product Manager Giuseppe Savoca. However, the new inverter is not limited to this industry. It is fundamentally suitable wherever large amounts of heat need to be dissipated from the control cabinet or room, such as in metal extraction or processing. The innovative cooling system can be operated with water, oil, or a water-glycol mixture as the cooling medium. Liquid cooling significantly reduces the size of the enclosure. At the same time, it ensures perfect heat dissipation and thereby minimizes the dimensions of the control cabinet and cooling system. The cooling coils of the ADV200 WH are made of aluminum, making them highly resistant to corrosion. Additionally, the design of the piping system reliably provides safe internal separation of electronics and liquid cooling.

Advantages for the user

The ADV200 WH offers numerous benefits to the user: In addition to a novel mounting system with two easy-to-implement installation options – cabinet mounting or through-hole mounting – it provides the option to integrate the braking resistor on the cooling body for motor powers up to 55 kW. Furthermore, the inverter type ADV200 WH can be connected to an AFE regenerative system. Another major advantage: users only need to work with one supplier – regardless of installation variant and cooling method. Additionally, the standard installation of a line choke and EMC filter reduces the initial investment costs for the customer – a decisive differentiation from competitors.

A parameterization and programming structure for all inverters

In terms of control, operation, and programming, the liquid-cooled frequency inverter does not differ from the air-cooled models of the ADV200 series. All inverters in the series feature an autodidactic user guidance, a standard safety card STO (Safety Torque Off), line choke (up to 200 kW 250 kW), and EMC filter, as well as a brake chopper, keypad, soft-SPS, and numerous inputs and outputs. For wiring, there are removable terminals for control signals and power connections (up to 22 kW), as well as shielding provisions. These include, among other things, the 24 VDC supply, which maintains all monitoring functions, programming, and the integrated fieldbus network in the event of a power outage. Additionally, innovative and very useful are the options for controlling and regulating asynchronous and synchronous motors with various encoder systems or encoderless (sensorless synchronous) in all power ranges. Intelligent tuning functions ensure optimal speed and current regulator adjustments in the inverter for rotating and stationary motors. This greatly simplifies commissioning of the ADV200 series inverters. A removable control terminal and two operation modes, Easy and Expert, which are the same for all power ranges, enable simple and quick programming – regardless of the complexity of the task. Moreover, a special wizard tool allows intuitive navigation and straightforward commissioning.
