A chapter comes to an end

For many years, Norbert Otto was part of the SwissCCS association. It was not easy for him to say goodbye to his active role. After over 30 years in the SwissCCS association, the moment had come. "At 71 years old, this step is not entirely easy—and yet it feels right," says Norbert Otto. His connection to SwissCCS, or previously SRRT, dates back to 1994 when he founded his company in Germany with a Swiss business partner. What initially began with curiosity and professional interest quickly developed into a deep bond with the people and the topics of cleanroom technology that characterize this community. Over the years, he has witnessed not only the development of the field but also SwissCCS itself evolving into a platform for international exchange, inspiration, and collegial cooperation.

What he remembers most are the people: working together, striving for good solutions during meetings on standardization both nationally (SNV, VDI, DIN) and internationally (ISO Committee). The conversations on the sidelines of events, such as the numerous training sessions on cleanroom technology, which embody the trust and reliability of the association. This also includes his time as interim president, during which the association placed great trust in him. "Much has changed over these years—in our environment, in our field, and even within the association itself. And yet, one thing has remained: the spirit of collaboration," says Norbert Otto.

Three decades are more than just a long period of time. They stand for encounters, developments, engagement, and many shared experiences. When he joined back then, he could not have imagined the place SwissCCS would eventually hold in his life. The association became much more than a professional network for him—it was for many years a piece of home.

As he ages, perspectives shift. What was once taken for granted now requires more strength and time. Therefore, he feels the time has come to pass on responsibility and create space for new ideas and younger voices.

Norbert Otto will, even as he withdraws from active participation, remain connected to the association. "I wish SwissCCS continued lively development, committed members, and the courage to preserve what works while also daring to try new things," says Norbert Otto at the farewell event.
