15 Years of BECKER Cleanroom Technology

"Pure Rooms: Understand, Plan, and Achieve" – this is the motto of BECKER Cleanroom Technology GmbH from Saarbrücken on their newly redesigned homepage. The company can look back on a successful 15-year history this year. Turnkey cleanrooms and cleanroom solutions from BECKER can be found in many industries worldwide. As a member of the Saarland-based BECKER Group, they have a history spanning three generations in refrigeration, climate, and ventilation technology: As early as 1928, founder Alfred Becker was involved in food cooling, and the first patents in refrigeration technology were filed. The market grew; in 1967, Dr. Joachim Becker took over the company's affairs, and the KLIMA BECKER brand was created. Since 1997, Thomas Becker, the founder's grandson, has expanded the group to include full service, control technology, and cleanroom technology. The first cleanrooms were built in the research and microelectronics sectors.

All from a single source

In 2002, the independent BECKER Cleanroom Technology GmbH was finally founded. Since then, Dirk Steil has been managing the company together with Thomas Becker. The philosophy and success are based on comprehensive customer support from a single source: from initial consultation through engineering planning, proper construction, and qualification, to 24-hour full service throughout the entire lifecycle of the cleanroom, with only one contact person for the customer. This also means responsibilities are consolidated in one hand – an important advantage, especially since cleanroom projects are always technically complex. The value added from in-house services averages about 60–70% of the project value. The company covers technically demanding trades such as climate, refrigeration, filtration, and control technology entirely with its own personnel. Only wall and ceiling systems are purchased. The stainless steel furniture and material pass-throughs are custom-made by the staff, and trained personnel carry out all qualification measurements according to cGMP and DIN 14644 standards.

Cleanrooms for pharmaceutical production

A key focus of the company is cleanrooms in the healthcare sector, e.g., high-quality cleanrooms for the production of sterile products in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as cleanrooms for medical device manufacturers. But other industries also require sophisticated cleanroom solutions: microelectronics, optics, food technology, and for some time now, automotive engineering.

Energy efficiency – key to future success

At BECKER Cleanroom Technology, particular attention is paid to the energy efficiency of the cleanrooms: during the planning phase, the system technology is designed to ensure the optimal cost-benefit ratio for the customer (Total Life Cycle Cost) over the entire lifespan. The proprietary software tool "Clean & green" allows detailed calculations of all operating and energy costs.

The BECKER Group currently employs 280 staff members domestically and internationally. The foundation for further growth has been laid.
