What started in just one room in a five-room apartment has, ten years later, become a company with almost 100 employees, operating in three countries as a pioneer in an exciting industry. The company MIKROCLEAN has specialized in cleanroom cleaning from the very beginning. Because if you want to become an expert in a field, you must also focus on it. That is exactly what has been achieved, as reflected in the company’s anniversary. With an innovative and always creative approach, the company has continuously developed and reached numerous milestones. But let’s go in order.

Beginnings and Development of MIKROCLEAN

The story of MIKROCLEAN began in February 2012 with the laying of the foundation and the first maintenance cleaning in a cleanroom. In a private five-room apartment, founder Timo Speck and an employee set up their own office space – already near the current headquarters in Grafenberg, a municipality in Baden-Württemberg. Subsequently, daily maintenance cleaning in an ISO 7 cleanroom was possible, thus the regular cleanroom cleaning by MIKROCLEAN was born.

In 2012, the first GMP cleanroom followed, along with a pioneering role that the company would repeatedly assume. In December 2012, MIKROCLEAN became the first company in Germany to introduce monitoring in cleanroom cleaning. A turbulent first year laid the groundwork for the fact that today, a company anniversary can be celebrated.

By 2013, MIKROCLEAN had already developed into the market leader in cleanroom cleaning in the Baden-Württemberg region. A year later, in 2014, the company moved to its new headquarters in Grafenberg, which is still current today. In 2015, the company celebrated its 100th cleanroom. A real milestone, which could already be celebrated three years after its founding. In the same year, a dedicated training center was established, featuring a practice cleanroom facility – a crucial step toward a sustainable and long-term company concept.

That the MIKROCLEAN concept was successful was evident in the following years. By 2017, the company already employed over 65 people across Germany. In the same year, the 200th cleanroom was added to the customer base. The number of employees continued to grow steadily: 75 in 2018, over 90 in 2020. For the company’s anniversary, there are now nearly 100 employees. In 2021, branches were opened in Berlin and Essen.

The Birth of the Cleanroom Workshop

In 2021, founder Timo Speck developed a knowledge platform around the topic of cleanrooms. The Cleanroom Workshop was born and went live on YouTube and LinkedIn on January 14, 2021.

He regularly hosts interesting guests here, experts who find a platform in the Cleanroom Workshop to discuss important and interesting topics related to cleanrooms. Not only a value for his own company, but for everyone in this industry, which is why Timo Speck is always happy to welcome new guests and invite them to participate in a show.

Extraordinary Orders and Successes of MIKROCLEAN

Among the milestones and developments, there have been some groundbreaking successes for MIKROCLEAN, but the company has also consistently distinguished itself with high-quality orders. Speck and his team are particularly proud of an order from 2015 from the Fraunhofer Institute IPA, ISO Class 1. MIKROCLEAN succeeded in cleaning the cleanest room in the world. Already a year earlier, a XXL cleanroom was cleaned, measuring impressive dimensions: 80x40m = 3,200 m², 8 meters high, 25,600 m³.

In 2020, MIKROCLEAN was also able to support the medical sector. From day one, the cleanrooms of today’s vaccine manufacturer Biontech were cleaned – an important contribution to society’s health.

MIKROCLEAN Advances with New Challenges

Looking back at the 10th company anniversary, it is impressive how quickly ten years can pass and how much has happened in that time. MIKROCLEAN has managed to repeatedly hit the core of the times through an innovative and creative approach, achieving great success in the market. The steady growth of the company clearly underscores this.

An innovative approach also means continuously adapting to new circumstances. The COVID-19 pandemic has taught this once again. In the future, MIKROCLEAN will be even more present on-site and act as a service provider. An operational radius of 2.5 hours from the company headquarters has proven effective, which has also been confirmed repeatedly by customers. These are also reasons why the locations in Berlin and Essen were opened. Through these, MIKROCLEAN has been able to be closer to even more customers. In the future, the branches will be supplemented with further locations across the DACH region.

There is also a lot happening in Grafenberg, as the rapid development of MIKROCLEAN has caused the site to become overcrowded. Therefore, a state-of-the-art operational building is being constructed, which will bring entirely new possibilities. With modern storage and office spaces, as well as meeting and training centers, the company can address future challenges and respond to its significant growth. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2022, another milestone.

The company has established a reputation through expertise and a fresh, creative approach. As the 10th company anniversary is celebrated, a look back at its dynamic history is in order. But soon, the next challenges will be waiting. Here’s to the next ten years.
