Lindner Reinraumtechnik GmbH receives major order for Novartis NSLF ceiling system Line 80S Type 2
Major contract: Lindner Reinraumtechnik GmbH to build Novartis manufacturing facility NSLF - Ceiling System Line 80S Type 2 -
When constructing cleanrooms for the pharmaceutical industry, Lindner Cleanroom Technology is one of the leading turnkey providers in Europe. From the expansion of the entire cleanroom shell to HVAC systems and qualification, the company offers all services seamlessly from a single source.
The Novartis AG, the second-largest pharmaceutical company in the world, is investing at the Stein site in Switzerland – the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing facility within the Novartis Pharma Division – in the new construction of the New Solids Launch Facility, a production plant for solid dosage forms. Covering a gross floor area of 30,000 m² across 4 levels, modern manufacturing equipment and office spaces are being developed.
Lindner Cleanroom Technology GmbH, which has already carried out numerous cleanroom constructions for Novartis AG, has now been commissioned to expand the New Solids Launch Facility (NSLF). The scope of this contract, valued at over 22 million euros, includes 30,000 m² of ceiling systems, 10,000 cleanroom and office luminaires, 25,000 m² of walls, over 1,000 doors, 1,200 pieces of cleanroom furniture, custom project-specific solutions, and numerous fire protection areas.
Due to the requirements from the specifications, some products required new development or further development, such as the walk-on cleanroom ceiling. The system, which mainly consists of steel band grid in cross construction, suspended ceiling panels, and lay-in load-bearing sheets, was further developed in the shortest possible time according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 by TÜV SÜD. Additionally, a project-specific solution for the vibration-isolated ceiling suspension from a steel structure was implemented. After extensive load testing, static calculations, and pull-out tests—documented with strict protocols and photographs—the ceiling system Line 80S Type 2 was assembled on-site in a 1:1 scale model at the customer's location.
The system features a narrow visible width, is fully serviceable, and offers maximum walking comfort due to a maximum suspension distance of 2.4m x 2.4m, with very low luminaires fully integrated into the ceiling, avoiding tripping hazards. Furthermore, many of the necessary media for cleanroom production are routed invisibly inside the ceiling system. This is made possible by special cut-outs in the band grid profiles. Lindner’s extensive range of surfaces and materials offers maximum design freedom for customers and numerous application possibilities across various areas of sterile technology. Optimized production processes for manufacturing the system also ensure minimal environmental impact.

Lindner Cleanroom Technology is one of Europe's leading turnkey providers of cleanrooms for the pharmaceutical industry. The company offers everything from cleanroom shells to HVAC systems and relevant certifications—all from a single source.
The largest pharmaceutical production facility within the Novartis Pharma Division—the second-largest pharmaceutical company in the world—is located in Stein, Switzerland. Novartis AG is expanding this site with the New Solids Launch Facility, a manufacturing plant for solid dosage forms. The four-story building includes modern manufacturing facilities and offices covering a gross floor area of 30,000 m².
The New Solids Launch Facility (NSLF), a contract worth 22 million euros, continues a series of successful cleanroom projects commissioned by Novartis AG to Lindner Cleanroom Technology GmbH. This time, they entrusted the company with constructing and outfitting numerous fire compartments, providing 30,000 m² of ceiling systems, 10,000 cleanroom and office luminaires, 25,000 m² of walls and partitions, over 1,000 doors, 1,200 pieces of cleanroom furniture, and other custom solutions.
Lindner Cleanroom Technology enhanced some of its products and introduced new ones to meet the extraordinarily high expectations for the walk-on cleanroom ceiling, to name just one example. The system, composed of steel Post Cap profiles, hook-on ceiling panels, and lay-in load-bearing sheets, was developed in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, certified by TÜV SÜD. The company suspended the vibration-isolated ceiling using a custom steel structure. Several engineers meticulously documented the long-term load and pull-out tests, static calculations, and installed a full-scale prototype of the ceiling system Line 80S Type 2 on site.
The slim panels are highly maintenance-friendly and equipped with built-in luminaires that are narrow and almost impossible to trip over. Additionally, the ceiling is particularly easy to walk on because the suspension components are spaced at a maximum of 2.4 x 2.4 meters, and thanks to profile cut-outs, most of the cabling within the plenum is hidden from view. Lindner’s broad selection of materials and finishes provides maximum creative freedom for clients and makes this ceiling suitable for all kinds of sterile environments. Its environmentally friendly manufacturing process minimizes environmental impact.
