Jens Hutzenlaub
Jens Hutzenlaub was born in 1966 in Gummersbach. After graduating from high school and completing civilian service, he began studying mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen in 1988. He chose plastics engineering as his specialization and worked among other places at the Institute for Plastics Processing in Aachen. He also held a position in thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgery at the Aachen Clinic. From there, he worked closely with the Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering on the development of heart support systems.
Based on the experiences gained there, he founded mecora Medizintechnik GmbH in 1993. This company is involved in the development and production of plastic components for medical technology. The focus of mecora's activities is in the area of blood pumps, cannulas, and blood-conducting components. Mr. Hutzenlaub holds several patents and also developed and implemented the innovative cleanroom "Sphairlab" in 2016, which is certified and used by mecora.
Mr. Hutzenlaub was chairman of MedLife e.V. in Aachen for five years, representing approximately 90 members from the life sciences sector in the Aachen region. He is also a member of the Committee for Health Industry of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Berlin.

I managed to set up a blood pump manufacturing company as a student alongside my studies without needing external funds
