Dr. Horst Weißsieker
Dr. Horst Weißsieker began his professional training with the study of physics in Göppingen and Berlin. His major subjects were technical optics, computer science, and astrophysics, culminating in a diploma in physics in vacuum coating technology in 1987.
At the end of his studies, in 1984, he met Dr. Wolf Ziemer (then still at Fläkt Lufttechnik) while earning a living as a taxi driver. This encounter led to his interest in aerosol physics and cleanroom technology, which has occupied his life ever since. Another highlight of his education was his doctoral thesis in the field of cleanroom monitoring and active cleanroom control, completed in 2007. Since October 2010, he has held an honorary professorship in project management at the State Ilya University in Tbilisi.
He has spent more than 25 years of his professional life working on various aspects of cleanroom technology, sometimes in development, often in sales and planning, almost always with a focus on plant engineering. Not only in Germany but in more than 40 countries around the world. As a former managing director of TÜV SÜD Cleancert GmbH and as chairman of the VDI 2083 working group, he actively shaped the guidelines, planning, and certification landscape. As a sworn expert in cleanroom technology, he is frequently called upon for quality and legal issues.

An interesting conversation, my family, friends, a hike in nature
What achievement are you particularly proud of?
Primarily my doctoral thesis on cleanroom monitoring, which I worked hard on alongside a 150% job over four years. Of course, also the German cleanroom technology, which is still leading worldwide in guidelines, product ideas, and product realization. Cleanroom technology has been and remains my life for 30 years.
