Günther Schilling
Born at Christmas 1955 in Waldshut on the edge of the Southern Black Forest, he began his professional career at 16 in nearby Switzerland. After a solid 4-year training as a mechanical draftsman and military service in Germany, he completed a mechanical engineering degree in the neighboring country.
Before making the big leap into cleanroom technology, he gained substantial development and management experience in two large Swiss corporations. First in high-performance packaging technology, then in foundry large-scale plant construction.
In 1988, the time came; his urge for new horizons and new technologies led him into the cleanroom business. Moving from dusty and sandy foundry plants to cleanroom technology was quite a leap at first. Developing systems for cleanroom production that emit virtually no particles fascinated the passionate tinkerer and developer. He led a medium-sized Swiss company in automation to become a leading high-tech supplier for data carrier production systems (CD, DVD, etc.) by developing a comprehensive cleanroom automation modular system.
Ten years later, he applied this cleanroom expertise across various industries and founded SCHILLING ENGINEERING GmbH. Thanks to a strong market position and rapid growth, the first international subsidiary was established in Switzerland.
