Frank Spehl
Frank Spehl (born 1964) began his professional career after studying mechanical engineering (with a focus on energy and environmental technology) and completing an additional business administration course as a sales engineer for air filtration technology at Trox GmbH. His responsibility for the Baden-Württemberg sales area already brought him into contact with cleanroom technology early in his career and led to a strong affinity with this specialized field. Through further positions within and outside the air filter industry, from project engineer to managing director, he joined AAF Lufttechnik GmbH in Oberhausen in spring 2011 as Sales Manager for Germany and Switzerland. Here, he is responsible for building a new sales structure that is significantly shaped by modern cleanroom technology topics. Across companies, Frank Spehl is engaged in VIP 3000 (pharmaceutical construction), the German Cleanroom Institute (DRRI), as well as supporting the standards and guidelines work of VDMA and VDI.
What did you want to be as a child?
Mechanical engineer.
What was your first car?
2CV4.
What can you look forward to?
A perfect ski day with my family in the sun and deep snow.
Which achievement are you particularly proud of?
Having enough energy to get up again after setbacks and return stronger.
Which technical achievement do you admire the most?
The pioneering work for our current prosperity – the development of engines, automobiles, airplanes, electronics.
Who would you like to swap places with for a month?
Felix Neureuther – but only in winter.
In which country would you like to have a second residence?
Austria.
Who would you like to have met?
Leonardo da Vinci.
Which book would you currently recommend?
The Art of Clear Thinking by Rolf Dobelli.
What is your favorite food?
Generally hearty regional cuisine with meat or fish – from Rhenish Panhas to Tafelspitz.
What is your favorite music?
It depends very much on the mood – almost everything except schlager.
What was the best advice you've ever received?
Believe in yourself – you can achieve anything, you just have to want it.
Do you have a motto?
Live every day as if it were your last and enjoy the positive things that come your way. Don't forget to give back!
