Alfred Schleicher
Colors have always held a special fascination for Alfred Schleicher.
Born in 1947 as the son of a master painter in Offenburg/Black Forest, he initially followed the predetermined path through apprenticeship and master craftsman school.
He quickly realized that there were much more design possibilities in the "play with colors". So it was logical for him that after several years of practice at the Free University Salzburg under Dr. Heinrich Frieling, he completed a study in "Human Environmental Design with a focus on Color Psychology and Color Systematics". (Diploma as Color Consultant/Designer IACC).
In 1980, Alfred Schleicher became self-employed with his color studio. Through his additional training with Alexander Wunsch, Heidelberg, on: "The Physiological Connections between Humans and Color and Light," he gained the necessary tools for his future work.
With his profound knowledge of the effects of colors as a foundation, he initially engaged in the colorful design of neighborhoods. Many projects across the country from Hamburg to Munich showcase his unmistakable signature. This work has always remained a matter close to his heart.
The next step in the colorful design of living spaces was the design of workplaces, for which he previously determined the needs using a question catalog he developed himself, based on color psychological and ergonomic principles.
From 1986 to the present, many factory facilities in the textile processing, mechanical engineering, and chemical sectors have been outfitted by him with new color concepts and the creation of a complete corporate identity.
In 2003, Alfred Schleicher was entrusted with the task of designing a wafer manufacturing plant in color. The result was an exemplary, perfect cleanroom manufacturing facility that set new standards. Since then, creating cleanroom concepts in manufacturing and medicine has been one of his business focuses.
For several years, he has been an active member of VIP3000.

First a locomotive driver, then an engineer

What do you look forward to?
I always enjoy being out in nature. My homeland, the Black Forest and the Rhine floodplains, are always captivating with the changing seasons. I capture their beauty in a series of pictures every month.
What achievements are you particularly proud of?
My sustainable footprints left through "colorful public relations" for fellow humans in their living or working environment over more than 30 years.
Which technical achievements do you admire most?
The interplay of many technical individual achievements into a major technical result, such as in aircraft construction (A380) or space travel (Mars landing).
Who would you like to swap lives with for a month?
No one. I like my life.
In which country would you like to have a second residence?
In Iceland, I love the land, the sea, and the people.

What is your favorite music?
It's like with colors—I don't have a favorite. From Bob Marley and The Beatles to Beethoven, everything that helps maintain and improve my mood is included. It's also about waves, like with light and color.

To become self-employed as a color designer
