The modern cleanroom laundry in Lauterbach (Hesse) started it's operation in January. The construction is an investment in the location and in modern, forward-looking technologies. Due to the logistical proximity to customers and sustainable construction and operation of the cleanroom laundry, the facility also saves resources.

CWS, a holistic solution provider for hygiene, workwear, fire protection, cleanrooms and health and care, launched its newly built cleanroom laundry in Lauterbach, Hesse, in January.  The cleanroom laundry is operated by the CWS Cleanrooms business division is a major investment in modern and forward-looking technologies at the Lauterbach plant and the growing cleanrooms market. With its certified work, processes and the implementation of the highest standards in construction and operation, it meets the highest requirements for cleanrooms and fulfills the Group's sustainability requirements. Customers come from different business areas, such as pharmaceutical or medical technology, microelectronics and plastics technology.

Strategic investment in the growing cleanrooms market

"We are pleased to open another cleanroom laundry this time in Lauterbach, Hesse. With our investment in the cleanroom growth market we are creating a state-of-the-art production facility with the best possible conditions for our staff and our customer care”, says Jürgen Höfling, CEO of the CWS Group.

Markus Schad, Regional Managing Director Cleanrooms & Healthcare, adds: "Our customers work with the highest requirements for the decontamination of their workwear. We meet these requirements by certifying both our laundry and personnel. We can also meet special customer requirements at the new location. Plus, we are even closer to our customers thanks to our well-connected location in the center of Germany. This allows us to work even more agilely and more sustainable by using fewer resources."

The investment decision was made before the current pandemic. "The project was already planned in the summer of 2018. Construction work in Lauterbach started in January 2020. Thanks go out to our team on site, who made it possible to start production at the beginning of January this year - even under difficult conditions" Markus Schad is pleased to report.

Facts about the plant

The cleanroom laundry, developed according to the latest standards, is located on the 3,300 m² site of the CWS Group in Lauterbach and was developed in the CWS Group's inventory. The cleanroom is certified according to ISO 5 and ISO 7 standards. These standards each specify the maximum permitted amount of particles of a certain size within a defined space. In addition to the cleanroom laundry of CWS Cleanrooms, the building houses Product Development of CWS Workwear and CMT Production, an administrative unit of CWS-boco Supply Chain Management GmbH, as well as a large logistics room of Warehouse Management Hygiene. Both the building and the work in the cleanroom have the usual standardized certifications. The capacity of the laundry is about 15,000 items per day. The Lauterbach site is the fifth German CWS laundry to clean under cleanroom conditions. Other locations can be found in Reutlingen, Radeburg, Heidenheim an der Brenz and Mühldorf am Inn.
