SMC Campus Egelsbach: Foundation laying for innovative automation solutions
With innovative product development and interconnected work environments, SMC sends a clear signal for sustainable technologies and the future of machinery and plant engineering.
The work at the SMC Campus in Egelsbach is progressing on schedule. Over an area of approximately 32,700 square meters, a modern site is being developed that combines product development and the implementation of customized customer solutions under one roof. With the current construction phase, the foundation is being laid for the future buildings, thus creating the basis for a project that emphasizes sustainability and networking.
The campus will include several buildings, including a technical center, office and administrative areas, as well as a central complex that will also be accessible to customers. All units are designed to be interconnected. This concept aims to facilitate exchange and collaboration among teams and to ensure short distances for all employees.
With an investment of around 50 million euros, SMC affirms its long-term commitment to the Germany location. "This project is more than a construction project. It is a clear signal for the future of automation in Germany and for the close partnership with our customers," emphasizes Robert Angel, Managing Director of SMC Germany GmbH, SMC Austria GmbH, and Head of the SMC CEE Group in Central and Eastern Europe.
Schedule and Perspective
The new site will become part of SMC's global network and will connect practical development, on-site customer consulting, and technical training.
The planning is managed by the office A°ID Architecture + Industrial Design from Groß-Umstadt. "SMC is a client with a clear vision. The collaboration is characterized by trust and openness – enabling solutions that make an impact," explains Robin Hellweg, Managing Partner at A°ID, and adds: "The careful preparation of the site is the foundation for a campus that impresses with its functionality and sustainability."
The completion is planned for 2028, coinciding with SMC Germany's 50th anniversary.
