When constructing their new manufacturing plant in the Breisgau Business Park, Losan Pharma GmbH once again chose EFAFLEX cleanroom quick-acting doors. In sensitive zones such as material sluices, sluice corridors, and production areas, a total of 35 doors from the EFA-SRT® CR C and EFA-SRT® CR Premium series ensure controlled access while meeting the strictest hygienic requirements.

Upon entering the new production building in Eschbach, the precisely thought-out design immediately catches the eye. Glass walls, smooth floor surfaces, and high-quality stainless steel machinery emphasize the high technical and hygienic standards of the production. The installed quick-acting roller doors seamlessly integrate into the overall concept and make a significant contribution to process stability, particle reduction, and compliance with GMP and ISO standards for cleanrooms.

“For us, it is essential that the quick-acting roller doors used have a valid certification according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1,” says Christoph Lang, Technical Director of Losan Pharma GmbH. “The air cleanliness must be guaranteed at every point and at all times. This particularly includes preventing particles from the so-called gray area from uncontrolled entry into our cleanrooms. A high level of airtightness of the doors is therefore indispensable.”

In addition to airtightness, the pressure stability of the door systems also plays a central role, especially in sensitive areas with active pressure cascades. “In our sluices, there are sometimes significant pressure differences between adjacent rooms. A particularly critical transition exists, for example, to the fully automated high-bay warehouse zone, where the cleanroom doors must operate absolutely reliably even under constant pressure load. EFAFLEX cleanroom doors meet these requirements without restrictions,” emphasizes Christoph Lang.

Hygiene was also consistently considered when selecting the door systems. For Losan Pharma, a GMP-compliant design with rounded edges, smooth surfaces, and sloped elements that ensure easy cleaning and minimal particle adhesion is important. The entire system must be ergonomic, maintenance-friendly, and durable in itself.

A particular advantage is the fully integrated control unit. “The EFA-TRONIC control is space-savingly built into the door construction. This not only saves installation effort but also allows for a clean implementation without additional control cabinets in the cleanroom. Furthermore, the control impresses with its versatile connectivity. Potential-free contacts and freely configurable inputs facilitate integration with conveyor technology and the higher-level control units of autonomous transport vehicles.”

The quick-acting roller doors EFA-SRT® CR Premium and EFA-SRT® CR C were specifically developed for cleanroom applications and meet the highest requirements for airtightness, hygiene, speed, and system integration. Both models are designed for up to 200,000 cycles per year and reach maximum opening speeds of up to 2.5 meters per second. Their hygienic design facilitates cleaning and minimizes particle adhesion.

The control is integrated space-savingly into the door construction—on the EFA-SRT®-CR C into the complete cover, on the EFA-SRT® CR Premium into the drive housing. An emergency mechanical release accessible from both sides is available. Both models can optionally be equipped with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), with the Premium model even integrated directly into the housing.
